About Charron Monaye

Charron Monaye is an American writer, playwright, publisher, and film producer. Her accolades include an honorary doctorate, the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award, and recognition as a Global 100 Business Professional. Her contributions to children’s literature have also been honored by the U.S. Department of Education, United Nations, and multiple state and municipal governments.
She is the founder of Pen Legacy, a multimedia enterprise encompassing publishing, songwriting, theater, and film. Over a dynamic career spanning more than 20+ years, Monaye has authored 28 books, co-authored over 100 titles, and published more than 175 authors across 15+ genres—collectively generating over $1 million in global sales. Her literary and theatrical works have reached audiences in more than eight countries and earned formal recognition.
A graduate of West Chester University and a trained writer under industry titans Shonda Rhimes and Victoria Christopher Murray, Monaye’s journey began with a passion for poetry and wordplay. This early love for language propelled her to become a published author at 14 years old, and she later expanded her craft into a successful side-career as a staff writer for prominent media publications. Her debut book, My Side of the Story (2010), was adapted into the stage play Living Your Life, which premiered in Philadelphia and was featured at the DC Theatre Festival, marking a significant milestone in her evolving career.
Her bestselling works—including Love the Real You (2015) and Imagine Life Without African American Inventors (2021) —have made a significant cultural impact across the U.S., U.K., India, Australia, France, Denmark, Brazil, and Africa.
